Swell spots and pads are uniquely designed to address the needs associated with providing coverage and targeted, localized pressure and compression to specific body areas and contours as part of a Lymphedema treatment or management program. (read more)
When managing Lymphedema with compression bandaging and therapy, it may be necessary to address cases of excess swelling or fibrosis, which is a hardened area under the skin, with extra compression that is targeted to a specific body area or contour.
Swell spots and pads have been developed to address this need and may be used in combination with short stretch compression bandages during CDT as part of a multi-layer compression bandage, or afterwards during on-going Lymphedema management. The swell spot or pad may be tucked into a compression garment or compression device and positioned where the extra pressure is needed.
Swell spots and pads are available in many shapes, sizes and designs to meet the needs of the body area that requires extra compression. Which ever type of swell spot or pad is used, the goal is to create localized, targeted pressure and break up the areas of concentrated and stagnant protein-heavy lymph fluid to help create a softer skin area.
The unilateral post-mastectomy pad is for the mastectomy patient with chest wall edema or radiation fibrosis over the anterior chest wall and the serratus anterior, but having normal lymph drainage on the unaffected side. Learn More
The serratus anterior pad, with the attached axilla pad, as designed to cover the breast and across the sternum to help direct lymph flow laterally down to the inguinals and posteriorly toward the spine. Learn More
The slimline rectangular pads are for use anywhere additional pressure is needed to provide better therapeutic results. Particularly useful on the lateral chest wall, anterior tibialis or lateral aspect of the forearm. Learn More
Featuring a posterior extension, the post-lumpectomy pad addresses swelling or radiation fibrosis over the affected breast and serratus anterior. The pad covers the affected breast completely and extends to the spine. Learn More
The oval slimline pad provides protects the delicate popliteal fossa under compression bandages, garments or compression pump appliances. Useful in any area where fibrosis is a problem or added protection is essential. Learn More
