Renee Romero, RN, MS, CLT-LANA


 

Renee Romero is a Registered Nurse and Licensed Massage Therapist in the State of Florida.  She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing and later graduated from Florida International University with a Masters Degree in Education.  In 1992, she received her Certification from the Dr Vodder School in Austria and in 1999 she became F?ldi certified at the Lymphedema Program in Germany. 

 

She began the Lymphedema Institute of America, Inc. in 1992 which was the first treatment center for patients with Lymphedema in Florida. She has presented at many conferences, workshops and seminars around the country, educating patients, therapists, and health care professionals about Lymphedema and the therapy,

 

Mrs. Romero is a consultant for many hospitals and therapists beginning a Lymphedema treatment center as well as a consultant to Bandages Plus, Inc.  She teaches a Creative bandaging class for therapists who are challenged by those difficult to bandage patients as well as other classes related to Lymphedema management.  She also an instructor for Upledger Institute for the Lymphedema Certification program.

 

Mrs. Romero has published a Manual of forms and letters for Lymphedema therapists beginning their own treatment center as well as other articles in the professional journals.  She served on the board of LANA (Lymphatic Association of North America) and was the president of NAVALT (North American Vodder Association of Lymphatic Therapy) from 1997-98.

 

 

 

Ruth Coopee, MOT, OTR/L, CHT, MLD/CDT, CKTI 

 


 

 

Ruth has over 15 years of teaching experience lecturing on a local, national, international, and college level addressing various topics involving upper extremity rehabilitation and splinting. She has been using Kinesio Taping since its arrival to the United States in 1995 and is a seasoned Master Instructor on the subject.

 

In addition she serves as the Lymphedema, Hand and Occupational Therapy consultant to the Kinesio Taping Association Educational Committee. She has authored two chapters on the use of Kinesio Taping; ?Kinesio Taping? in the Mosby 5th edition of Rehabilitation of the Hand & Upper Extremity by Mackin which details some of the mechanisms of Kinesio Taping and Splinting the Hand and Upper Extremity-Principles and Process (Lippincott Williams and Wilkins) by Jacobs and Austin that discusses Athletic, McConnell and Kinesio Taping techniques for the Upper Extremity.

 

She works part time at Athol Memorial Hospital and has an at home private practice. Recently, she has developed an on-line Kinesio Taping Foundations Course and is working on self publishing an Upper Extremity Kinesio Taping Text Book.     

 

 

 

Kathryn Thrift, BS, CLT-LANA

 


 

 

Graduated from the Dr Vodder School in Austria in 1987 and is certified to teach Basic & Therapy 1 Courses. Kathryn has been a member of the American Massage Therapy Association since 1980, as well as being Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, She is a Co-founder, past President, and past Treasurer of the North American Vodder Association of Lymphatic Therapy (NAVALT). In addition to teaching extensively throughout the United States, Kathryn maintains a private practice in Dallas, Texas.

 

Sue Welfley, LMT, NCTMB,

 


 

 

Sue has been a licensed massage therapist since 1991 with more than eight years experience with massage therapy during emergency response events. She is Director of FIRST (Florida Immediate Response Stress Team). She was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush and served over four years on the Florida Board of Massage Therapy. She served on the AMTA FL MERT from 1995-1997.
