Medium and Long stretch compression bandages are similar to common "Ace" bandages and have greater extensibility than short stretch bandages which are commonly used in multi-layer compression bandaging applications. (read more)
Medium stretch compression bandages are easy to use, soft and comfortable all-purpose bandages, and are often-times used for wound dressing retention applications. Long stretch compression bandages are often used to provide support and relief to tendons, ligaments and muscles. Medium and Long stretch bandages are also useful for splinting and support, and for providing mild compression. The high cotton content and finely woven material of the bandages makes them air-permeable and very skin-friendly.
Having extensibility greater than 140% of their original length, Medium and Long stretch bandages easily conform to body contours, but provide little resistance to muscle contraction and they stretch as edema increases. Therefore, they have low working pressure properties and provide poor edema containment, and are not generally useful in treating Lymphedema.
