Medium stretch compression bandages and long stretch compression bandages have more extensibility than short stretch compression bandages. In other words, they stretch more – often up to 140% of their original length. Also known as elastic bandages, these types of compression bandages are extremely versatile.

Made with a high-cotton content and finely woven material, medium and long stretch compression bandages easily conform to body contours and are air-permeable and skin-friendly.

Different Types Of Compression Bandages

There are three main types of compression bandages.

Short Stretch Compression Bandages: These types of compression bandages provide higher compression and are often used to help prevent, manage, and treat lymphedema. Because of their higher working pressure, short stretch compression bandages help pump stagnant lymph fluid away from an affected area and back toward the heart.

Medium Stretch Compression Bandages: Soft and comfortable, these types of compression bandages are comfortable, all-purpose bandages that provide mild compression. They’re often used to help secure wound dressings and to wrap knees, ankles, and other areas of the body.

Long Stretch Compression Bandages: These types of compression bandages provide mild compression and are useful for splinting. They can also provide support and relief for muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
